Summer is Fleeting

This happens more and more with each passing year, but it felt like the fast forward button was being held down all summer. Ready or not school already resumed this week, which was bittersweet. This summer break saw me scrambling more than most. My son’s annual trip with his paternal grandparents fell apart at the last minute, due to unfortunate health issues. I managed to find three separate and very different programs to keep my kiddo occupied, along with the help of friends who don’t work typical schedules. And I was able to travel with the boy a bit – flying to Montreal for one extra long weekend and driving to Milwaukee/Chicago for far too short of one. Closer to home we attended a BBQ at my office with a petting zoo one weekend and another, the lovely Square Lake Film and Music Festival. Now that we’re at the tail end of summer there are still some activities we can enjoy outside, when school isn’t in session. Tonight I re-potted plants and we had another backyard fire. Tomorrow we’re returning to “The Great Minnesota Get Together” for the annual Llama Costume Contest. This coming holiday weekend Cinema in the Cemetery is showing The Mummy. The Linden Hills Farmers Market is hosting the 2nd annual all-vegan Veg-End event. We have family visiting from out of town and a birthday party to attend, with waffles.

Bonus? I can check off nearly every item on this “30 Things to Do by the End of Summer” bucket list, plus a few not listed there, like celebrating my birthday with friends at Pizza Farm.

With school back in session I have more free time to schedule family portraits or solo head shots. Nothing beats a backdrop of Minnesota’s Fall colors. Interested in scheduling a weekend or evening session? Get in touch!
